![]() Recognizing our own responsibility in our life decisions goes against human nature. Throughout history mankind has been more inclined to immediately seek a scapegoat to blame if anything goes wrong and not as planned. Most would not take the time to consider it was due to poor individual choices and decisions made with lack of personal knowledge. Thankfully, there were a few, who must have questioned this and aided mankind's intellectual evolution! It is highly improbable that every decision you have made from your early childhood has been perfect. In life, we make decisions based on the current knowledge and beliefs that we have acquired. Sometimes, they can be limited, unrealistic, or emotionally/fear based. If things turn out successful, we just pat ourselves on the back and sweep in for all of the credit and glory! When they don't, we quickly absolve all responsibility for are decisions. This actually can be quite limiting and detrimental to future progress. By not recognizing the actual factors involved and correcting those, you may continue the cycle. By placing blame wrongly, you isolate yourself and may become fearful to take that path again. I know it can be very difficult to turn a magnifying glass on your own mistakes. Been there, done that! You don't have to beat yourself up over it. It doesn't mean you are bad or stupid. Play detective! By analyzing why, what, how, what, or when? You may realize perhaps you just did not have enough knowledge or were impatient. That can be fixed! Discipline yourself to slow down, take your time, and educate yourself. Try again, this time well prepared. I am sure there is at least one situation that is popping into the forefront of your mind now. The critic in you may be screaming, how could my decisions have possibly made any difference in that situation? Honestly, when my self-critic is screaming the loudest and wanting to defend itself...that is usually where the best life lesson is discovered! That critic in your mind can be like a petulant child, immature, fearful, rebellious, and truly loves to NOT face responsibility! It is very much connected with your conscious thinking mind. Hypnotists understand this critical factor and that is why they often add an amnesia portion in their session, before reviving a patient back to conscious awareness. There are a myriad of situations I have discovered in my many past mistakes that have become wonderful life lessons! They are effective in assisting me in setting new goals and successfully completing them. Meditate on your past decisions. Accept the learning experience and grow from it. Learning the lesson is the only way to ensure you won't repeat it. You don’t have to silence your conscious critic, but be a good objective detective and seek answers. Explore all of the evidence and solve the mysterious mistake, so that it will not be repeated in the future. There is a multitude of journeys out there to be explored. Certainly, we will have other lessons to reflect upon for that is the nature of living; but only by retaining the wisdom from past journeys will we lessen suffering to ourselves and to others in the future.

Cindy, As someone who's made lots of mistakes in life, I've grown because of them, and sometimes, in spite of them. The older I become, the more I realize that ego does more to prevent insight than stimulate it. Lose the ego, gain real opportunity for growth.
